Talents Challenge

The process for building the Alumwell Resource Centre (ARC) is now underway, with the overall budget for the building being £5 million. Most of this money will be raised through contracts with local partners who will use the facility such as the Health and Wellbeing partners, creche, or conference facilities. As a congregation, we have set ourselves a target to raise £500,000 towards the project.

We are doing this through the Talents Challenge, a fundraising project where members of the J10 Church Community can use their creativity, enterprise, and other God-given talents to raise funds for the ARC project. Just like in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 19:12-28), interested church members will be trusted with a financial investment. They can use their own talents to create a fundraising business or event, for the ARC, and at the same time, hopefully, have a community, gospel-sharing impact. The intention will be to either return the investment amount or better yet together with a profit that will go towards the ARC project.

Projects can be anything from cake sales to selling J10 printed T-shirts, hosting a dinner party charging donations, a silent auction, a raffle, or any creative idea you can come up with.

So How Does It Work?

Download the Talents Challenge form here. Fill in the required information, stating how much investment you require. Detail an outline of the investment idea e.g. What you will be doing, what the investment will be used for, and why you think this is a good idea. Detail the timeline you expect to see a return on the investment. Return the form to a church leader or email thechurch@junction10.com where it will be reviewed by the Elders and or Trustees. You will be notified of the outcome, and if approved the monetary Talent will be given for you to sow.

This is such an exciting project and to give you some ideas, you can find an A – Z list of fundraising ideas here. If you have any suggestions to add, feel free to speak to one of the Elders and or Trustees or email the church office.
